Merissa Underwood of Bozeman is crowned as Miss Montana USA 2020 on 15th September 2019 at University of Montana Dennison Theatre. The vegan beauty queen will be representing Montana for the title of Miss USA 2020 in the spring of 2020.
Merissa is a student at Loyola Marymount University where she will graduate with a degree in Political Science and Journalism major. Merissa is an Animal Rights Activist and Environmentalist. She has spent her entire life with animals especially on horseback. Merissa’s childhood revolved around animals which eventually led to her becoming Animal Rights Activist.
Merissa is very determined about raising awareness about the correlation between Factory farming and Climate change. She is often seen posting videos and pictures on her social media where she encourages her followers to join the animal rights movement and to switch to plant-based diet to battle the climate change.
A vegetarian in her teens, Merissa participated in the Future Farmers of America where she came face to face with the reality of how animals were treated by her peers and at the country fair. The 27-year-old model, started to replace dairy items from her diet with plant-based food. Thus, turned towards Veganism.
Merissa Underwood wants to use an opportunity like Miss USA 2020 to voice her opinion about animal rights and climate change. She wants people to understand that it is a genuine matter or concern and everyone should come together to tackle this issue. She also encourages Vegan lifestyle.
Merissa Underwood spends her spare time writing poems, songs, making music, producing and sometimes she’s a DJ. Along with Merissa, Morgan Pierce was crowned as Miss Montana Teen USA 2020. Merissa Underwood succeeds Grace Zitzer of Dilon Miss Montana Teen USA 2019 and will represent Montana in Miss Teen USA 2020.
