The finale of the 2022 edition of Miss Nederland 2022 (Miss Netherlands 2022) was held yesterday, i.e. 4th September 2022 at Studio 21 in Hilversum where Ona Moody was crowned the new queen as she became the official representative of Netherlands at Miss Universe 2022.

Ona Moody is 25 years of age and a Zimbabwean-Dutch beauty, born to a Zimbabwean father and a Dutch mother. She is a maternity nurse living in Amsterdam. Moody bested nine other finalists to win the national title.

For Moody, awareness is very important. "I think diversity and equal opportunities for everyone are very important. When I was younger, I didn’t realize certain groups get fewer opportunities than others, but when I got older, I found the inequality very confronting.”

"In our society, the awareness is increasing but there is room for improvement. I hope to contribute to that awareness and empower young people to follow their dreams. Because everyone deserves to do that," she added.

Also at the end of the event finale, Eva van de Wetering, 21, was adjudged as the first runner-up and also bagged the Miss Congeniality award. Solange Dekker, 26, was also awarded with Miss Social Media title.

Miss Nederland 2021 Julia Sinning crowned her successor at the end of the event finale. Julia represented Netherlands at Miss Universe 2021 but failed to place in the Top 16. Miss Universe 2022 will be held in the first trimester of 2023.
