Miss Philippines Earth 2018 Top 5 Question and Answer round

21 May 2018 | Irina Silva

Miss Philippines Earth 2018 surely had a grand event to celebrate the new Earth queen of Philippines. The representative of Fil-Comm of Rome, Italy, Silvia Celeste Cortesi was crowned the new Earth queen and took over Karen’s reign as Miss Philippines Earth 2018. Her court included Miss Philippines Air 2018 Zahra Bianca Saldua (Las Piñas City), Miss Philippines Water 2018 Berjayneth Chee (Balingasag, Misamis Oriental), Miss Philippines Fire 2018 Jean De Jesus (San Rafael, Bulacan), and Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism 2018 Halimatu Yushawu (Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay).

The Top 5 finalists were asked the same question and got the turn to answer it one by one. The answers in this year’s pageant, however, seemed a little disappointing, and underprepared. While no one gave the answer that could have matched the previous queen, Karen Ibasco’s caliber, the reigning queen Celeste did give a composed answer that stood out as better compared to all the others.

Here is the question and the Answers that Top 5 finalists gave on the Finale of Miss Philippines Earth 2018.

Question:

The deterioration of Boracay left our President with no choice but to close the island for 6 months for rehabilitation. What should be done to make sure that what happens to Boracay doesn’t happen to our other tourist destinations?

Fil-Rome, Italy: Silvia Celeste Cortesi

I agree with the decision [of] President Duterte. And I think that Boracay needs a drainage system because the 'juice' of trash goes directly on the ocean. We have to control the capacity of hotels.

San Raafel, Bulacan: Jean De Jesus

As our president says, change is coming. We must all become responsible travelers and respect our eo tourism spots. Because if we do not change the way we travel, this island and our nation will not take care of us. If we take care of our island, our nation will take care of us as mother Earth.

Las Piñas City: Zahra Bianca Saldua

We all know that Boracay used to be one of the most beautiful beaches, and now it’s going to be considered one of the most polluted. Now in order for us to make sure that this doesn’t happen in other tourist destinations, we need to focus on 3 things. First off, as responsible tourists we need to make sure we keep our tourist destinations clean as it is our responsibility. The second is that the government should implement more strict regulations when it comes to cre4ating these tourism spots and the last one our businesses should also take responsibility.

Balingasag, Misamis Oriental: Berjayneth Chee

We all know the boracay is such a beautiful poaradise here in the Philippines with white sand beaches and ccrystal blue waters. Its is our home and we must respect our home and our earth to save the other tourist places.

Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay: Halimatu Yushawu

Boracay is the perfect example that we should weigh short term economical benefits against long term environmental effects. Despite boracay islands contribution in tourism industry, it has harmed our enviornment. As Mahatma Gandhi says, our mother Earth provides something that we should not just only ignore.
