The Miss Philippines Earth 2018 night was as eventful as the preliminary competitions that happened before it. On 19th May 2018, Miss Philippines Earth found its new queen as Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco crowned her successor at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines.
The representative of Fil-Comm of Rome, Italy, Silvia Celeste Cortesi was crowned the new Earth queen and took over Karen’s reign as Miss Philippines Earth 2018. Her court included Miss Philippines Air 2018 Zahra Bianca Saldua (Las Piñas City), Miss Philippines Water 2018 Berjayneth Chee (Balingasag, Misamis Oriental), Miss Philippines Fire 2018 Jean De Jesus (San Rafael, Bulacan), and Miss Philippines Eco-Tourism 2018 Halimatu Yushawu (Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay)

Silvia won the preliminary Miss Philippines Earth 2018 Cocktail Wear competition.
She also received a Bronze medal at the Press Presentation of the Contestants, in the medal tally of Miss Philippines Earth 2018 Darling of the Press.
Sylvia is a 20-year-old- model, and stands tall at 5 feet 8 inches. Her measurements are 33.5 inches - 25.5 inches - 35.5 inches
In answer to a question that asked why she participated in the Miss Philippines Earth 2018 competition, Silvia said, “To be Miss Philippines Earth is a Responsibility and an honour. I want to win MPE 2018 because I want to have the privilege and honour to represent the Philippines and share my capacity and advocacy regarding human values and the importance of how to respect mother nature.”
Her advocacy is about trees in Italy because she believes we should protect our urban fragile forests, as trees are life. And the perfect example, according to her, is in Italy, for the existence of a law that protects monumental trees.
Sylvia has some big shoes to fill as she is the heir to one of the most successful Miss Earth that Philippines has seen, Karen Ibasco. Whether she fills those shoes will be tested with time.
