Lebogang Mahlangu is one of the top 15 delegates who have been selected by the organization for the Miss South Africa 2020. She hails from the city of Soshanguve, Gauteng and is 24-years-old. She is a food scientist working in research and development for a large multi-national. She is also a social entrepreneur and owns a community bakery in Soshanguve.
In her entry video, Lebogang has mentioned that she is passionate about winning and representing South Africa at international level because she wants to use the platform to transform the nation as one. She states that she believes that purpose and profit are not mutually exclusive and we as communities and individuals can help cultivate self-sustaining opportunities to drive social change. Since, Lebogang is an entrepreneur herself, she wants to raise awareness about social entrepreneurship. She mentions that due to the current economic situation in the country, social entrepreneurship can help the people to change and with the help of the platform given to her by Miss South Africa organization, she would like to use it to the fullest.
The diva who is a food scientist loves adventure and the feeling of adrenalin rush. She likes to take some time off her work and assignments to go for exploring new hiking routes, running, and exercising. That not only keeps her fit and healthy but also stress free and at peace. She is passionate and very strongly feels the urge to bring in the change in the society even if it is in her society. Lebogang says people would be surprised to learn that she was once an aspiring professional soccer player who represented Gauteng and went to a sports school in hopes of playing for Banyana Banyana!
The diva expressed her happiness and excitement after being selected as one of the Top 15 delegates for the competition with a social media post thanking the organization; “It has been inspiring to see how my presence in the Top 35 has encouraged people to reach for their goals and fulfil their potential. Being part of Miss SA Top 15 will not only change my life, but I believe it will inspire the young women in my community to dream again. I am excited and hope that this shows everyone that they can achieve anything if they truly believe and put in the effort to make it happen.”
Lebogang wants to bring the change in the society but her idea of doing so is different. She wants to use her skills of an entrepreneur to do so and that is appreciable. She is strong, confident, and determined that she will be able to perform her best at the competition and hopes to win it too. She has started to prep herself up for the competition with working on her communication, interview skills, on-stage walk, and confidence. A strong woman like her can be a tough contender for the title but a proud representative of South Africa at any international stage.
