Our favourites from the Preliminary Competition of Miss Supranational 2023

12 Jul 2023 | Priya Bhardwaj

The Preliminary competition of Miss Supranational 2023 was held on 11th July 2023 which was broadcasted live on the official YouTube channel of Miss Supranational. The preliminary witnessed the delegates compete in the swimsuit competition and the evening gown competition before the jury.

Safe to say, last night witnessed probably a few of the best performances at Miss Supranational competition. The delegates put their best foot forward to impress the jury which consisted of Luis Daniel Gálvez – Mister Supranational 2022, Srinidhi Shetty – Miss Supranational 2016 from India, Adinda Cresheilla – Miss Supranational 2022 3rd Runner-up from Indonesia, Andre Sleigh – Creative Director of the Miss and Mister Supranational, Lalela Mswane – Miss Supranational 2022.

Here are the best performances, in our opinion, based on both the rounds (in no particular order) –

Sancler Frantz representing Brazil

Sancler Frantz came to impress as she impressed in the strong catwalk at the swimsuit round and showcased exemplary grace in a black high slit gown at the Evening Gown competition. All in all, Sancler came to conquer and that she did!

Valentina Mora representing Colombia

Valentina Mora was a sight to behold flaunting her abs with a confident walk and equally impressing in the lemon sleeveless sheen gown in the evening gown round. More than anything, her confidence was contagious which made her standout.

Crystal Matos representing Dom Rep

Crystal Matos went for the dramatic effect and it actually worked for her! Mesmerizing everyone with her strong walk with open hair and a smiling face throughout at the swimsuit round, Matos went for a Minh Tuan gown with dramatic bell sleeves for the evening round.

Andrea Aguilera representing Ecuador

Andrea Aguilera has been a strong contender since the beginning of the competition as she comes with experience, and it showed in her performance last night. Be it her strong walk at the swimsuit round or her headstrong yet graceful walk in that iconic red gown, Andrea showed why she is a front-runner this year.

Pauline Amelinckx representing Philippines

Pauline Amelinckx’s breathtaking performance at the preliminary last night showed that Philippines has come prepared to win this year. Pauline’s hair flip at the swimsuit round and then the utter grace she showed at the evening gown round, shows she could win the second Miss Supranational crown for her country exactly after a decade!

Ayanda Thabethe representing South Africa

Ayanda Thabethe is going for a back to back win for her country this year and she definitely slayed at the preliminary. Ayanda impressed with her contagious smile and a strong walk at the swimsuit round while she wore a gown inspired by the beautiful body of water surrounding South Africa in the next round. Indeed a goddess rising from the ocean!

First Wang representing Thailand

First Wang looked focused and determined last night; be it in the way she walked in the swimsuit round or the way she showcased the curves aptly in her evening gown with a sort of cape at the back. Another strong contender for the crown for sure!

Sakhile Dube representing Zimbabwe

Sakhile Dube looked perfection in her beautiful natural afro hair at the preliminary last night. Dube probably has one of the best walks at the competition this year and her hardwork showed in how showcased herself at both the rounds.

A special mention to Indonesia’s Yasinta Aurellia for her spectacular Evening Gown performance and India’s Pragnya Ayyagari for a very strong performance at the Swimsuit round. Both the Asian beauties are going strong in the competition as well.
