Pia Wurtzbach needs no introduction in the pageant world; the Filipino-German beauty queen was crowned Miss Universe in 2015 at a fairly controversial finale, if we might add. Nobody can forget the night when Pia was crowned Miss Universe because of Steve Harvey’s announcement of error where he initially announced Ariadna Gutiérrez of Colombia as Miss Universe.
Pia’s foray in the pageant world began when she entered Binibining Pilipinas in 2013. She participated at the national pageant and placed as the first runner-up. The next year, she competed at the pageant again but could only reach Top 15. Third time was a charm for Pia as she won the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 crown and represented Philippines at Miss Universe 2015 and went on to bring the crown home.
As Miss Universe, Wurtzbach visited Indonesia, Ecuador, Cayman Islands, Thailand, Panama, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore to fulfill her reigning responsibilities. Wurtzbach represented the Philippines and the Miss Universe Organization at a meeting of the United Nations that aimed at ending AIDS.
Even after the Miss Universe reign ended, Pia continued to work with the Miss Universe Organization as an HIV/AIDS awareness advocate. In 2017, Wurtzbach was named a UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific. Her humanitarian work has earned her admiration and respect as Pia has proven that beauty queens can use their platform for positive change and make a difference in the world.
Making a name for herself in the modeling and entertainment industry after her reign ended, Pia has acted in more than twenty series and five movies, even going on to win New Movie Actress of the Year Award. Just recently, after serving 40 show-stopping looks, Pia conquered the Milan Fashion Week. The stunning former Miss Universe attended shows for labels such as Gucci, Tod's, Bally, Balmain, Missoni, MaxMara, Fendi to name a few.
