Joining the withdrawing countries this year, Miss Universe Barbados organization, a few hours ago, released an official statement that the national edition for the year 2021 will not be held in light of the worsened state of affairs in respect of the COVID-19 pandemic in Barbados, compounded by the restrictions on the holding of events.

The message from the Miss Universe Barbados team on a show for 2021 stated, “In light of the worsened state of affairs in respect of the Covid-19 pandemic in Barbados, compounded by the restrictions on the holding of events, the Directors of Crown Events Inc. have taken the difficult decision that there will be no Miss Universe Barbados this year.”

“We will therefore not have delegate at the Miss Universe competition in December. We encourage you to wear your masks, sanitize frequently, practice social distancing and get vaccinated. Stay safe!” they added. The decision came into action due to the current Covid -19 infection rates and the very necessary restrictions needed to keep all Barbadians safe.

For the time being, the reigning queen Hillary Ann-Williams will continue her reign as Miss Universe Barbados 2020 Hillary is 25-years-old entrepreneur who owns her own Digital Marketing agency. She rose to national prominence as a delegate in Miss Universe Barbados 2019, where she initially emerged as a finalist and People’s Choice winner. Subsequently, after the reigning Miss Universe Barbados 2019, Shanel Ifill, received a lucrative modelling contract and had to step away from her title, Hillary was elevated to complete the last 7 months of Shanel’s reign and now has been the reigning queen for over a year.

Earlier this year, Hillary Ann Williams represented Barbados at the Miss Universe 2020 competition where her performance was highly appreciated but unfortunately remained unplaced at the end of the event. For the 2021 edition, the Miss Universe Organization is all set to host the 70th anniversary of the pageant in Eilat, Israel in December 2021 where Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
