Will Aruba’s Kiara Arends pioneer her country win at Miss Universe?

Miss Universe 2022, the 71st edition of the international pageant will be held later this year where Harnaaz Sandhu of India will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

The countries are currently crowning/appointing their representatives for Miss Universe competition. Aruba crowned its representative as Kiara Arends was crowned Miss Universe Aruba 2022 on 31st July 2022 at Oranjestad. The country is yet to pioneer its win at Miss Universe, but Kiara sure has increased the chances of the country to debut its win at the international competition.

The 23-year-old travel enthusiast, model, and law graduate is a social justice advocate who found BUMP, a charity organization that benefits upcoming mothers during the pandemic. Not a newbie to the pageantry, Kiara held the title Miss Teen Aruba International 2017, and she was Virreina de las Americas at Miss Teen Americas 2018.

With Kiara’s experience, her strong personality and a stunning face, the country’s chances have increased to win the crown. Kiara, after her coronation, has shown how strong she is as a contestant. She is also a strong orator who works for the betterment of her country and always uses her voice to make a change.

Aruba made a historic Top 10 finish at last year's Miss Universe edition in Eilat, Israel with Thessaly Zimmerman. She broke a twenty-year drought for the country in the placement. No delegate from Aruba has placed after Taryn Mansell was named first runner-up to Venezuela’s Alicia Machado during Miss Universe 1996.
