At the conclusion of the finale of Miss Universe Barbados 2016 held on 17th September 2016 held in Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre Shannon Harris was crowned as the winner. Shannon will now represent Barbados at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant.
After 8 years of absence, the Miss Universe Barbados pageant is finally making a comeback at the Miss Universe pageant. Before the casting, the new franchise director Brian Green revealed that significant changes to the contest have been done to offer unique opportunities to the contestants. “Miss Universe says you are confidently beautiful. They don’t say that you are 5’9, they don’t say that you are 12 pounds, that you are a size zero – they say that you are confidently beautiful, so bring your confidence and bring your beauty.” he said.

At the coronation night of Miss Universe Barbados 2016, Jamilah Forde was titled first runner-up and Christina Yearwood was adjudged third runner-up. Shannon defeated thirteen other gorgeous finalists to clinch the title of Miss Universe Barbados 2016.
After the preliminary competition of swimsuit and evening gown round, the group of fourteen finalists were narrowed down to five - Anique Herbert, Christina Yearwood, Ukweli Wilson, Shannon Harris and Jamilah Forde.
