The magnificent finale of Miss Universe Croatia 2017 came to a conclusion when 19 year old gorgeous beauty Shanaelle Petty from Slavonski Brod was crowned as the winner. Shanaelle succeeds Miss Universe Croatia 2016 Barbara Filipovic, and will now represent the country at Miss Universe 2017 pageant to be held later this year.
Standing tall at 185cm, Shanelle was born in the United States to an American father and Croatian mother. Shanaelle finished Terry Sanford High School in North Carolina. She loves to cook, play the piano and enjoys playing tennis and volleyball. The beauty speaks fluent English and Spanish, and aspires to work for NASA someday.
At the same pageant, 19 year old Elena Jung from Vodnjan was adjudged the first runner-up, and 21 year old Marijana Josipovic from Osijek was titled as second runner-up. Marijana was also awarded the Miss Photogenic Award.
The pageant started with the introduction of the contestants. And as the pageant proceeded through, the girls showcased their grace, talent and excellence in the evening gowns, swimsuit round, and the casual wear competition. So, based on their performances, intelligence and presence on stage, the winner and the runners-up for the night were announced.
All the finalists who competed for the pageant were also awarded the scholarship 20,000 Euros for Zagreb School of Economics and Management, and also won several awards.
Miss Universe Croatia (also known as Miss Universe Hrvatske) is an annual national beauty pageant that selects representatives for the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Croatia pageant has been held annually since 1997. Croatia has not won any Miss Universe title till date. However, in 2009 (Sarah Cosic Miss Universe Croatia 2009) and 2012 (Elizabeta Burg Miss Universe Croatia 2012) Croatia managed to reach the Top 15 and Top 16 of Miss Universe 2009 and Miss Universe 2012 simultaneously.
