With Adline’s placement as third runner-up, the Indian beauty managed to break the record of the placement of India in the top positions after 20 years.
Before Adline, Celina Jaitley, who represented India at Miss Universe 2001, was placed as the fourth runner-up on 11th May 2001 at the Coliseo Rubén Rodríguez in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. After Adline’s placement as the third runner-up, Celina took to her social media to share how proud she was of Adline’s exceptional performance throughout the competition. She wrote, "When I became Miss. Universe 2001 Runners Up, I didn’t realize it would take 20 years for India to reach this position again. Hearty congratulations to Adline Castelino on nailing the runners-up for India, congratulations to Miss Diva Organization, and Femina Miss India. It’s great to see India shine. "
Adline Castelino was regarded as one of the strongest contenders for the title due to her outstanding performance throughout the competition. Since she arrived in Florida, she has managed to attract the pageant community with her eloquence, fashion game, and confidence. Her national costume was one of the highlights at the National Costume Competition as well as she walked on stage looking gorgeous in a costume that embodied the true essence of a woman. The stunning pink saree is a traditional attire binding the whole country together and the color of the saree is inspired by the national flower of India, the Lotus. The saree's border and pallav are encrusted with embroidery depicting the three-hundred-year-old Pichwai art form, which adds grace.
The diva’s stunning evening gown that was custom designed by Falguni Shane Peacock for Adline enhanced her beauty and stunning body figure. She walked on stage with the utmost confidence and grace that helped her to surpass the other delegates and reach to the top positions. During her final question and answer round, Adline was asked, "Should countries lockdown due to Covid-19 despite the strain on the economies, or should they open borders and risk the potential increase in infection rates?" Adline confidently replied, "Coming from India and witnessing what India is experiencing right now, I have realized something very important that nothing is more important than your health, and of your loved ones and you have to draw a balance between economy and health and that can only be done when the government works with the people hand-in-hand and produces something that will work with the economy."
Lastly, she could make a final statement on the topic ' ‘Free Speech and the right to protest’. She stated, "The right to protest. We've seen many protests in recent days especially, I want to point out the protests that women have made throughout the years with equal rights. Until today, we lack in them because protests help us raise our voice against what's happening against inequality, it helps minorities in any democracy to raise their voice. So, protests are very important, but what's not important is when you use them because with every right comes to responsibility, so use it with power. "
Even though Adline Castelino did not place in the top three or win the title of Miss Universe India 2020, she did manage to steal hearts, make her country proud, break records for India at Miss Universe, and make her way into being one of the finest and most dedicated representatives of India at Miss Universe.
Congratulations Adline!
