Miss Universe Philippines 2022, the 3rd edition of the Miss Universe Philippines, will be held on 30th April 2022 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Bay City, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.

Sonja Jeyn Tanyag will be representing Laguna province as she made it to the Top 50 of the national competition. 23 year-old Sonja is a graduate in Tourism and Travel Services Management from De La Salle Lipa. She is also a pescetarian for five years now which means she only eats sea food and vegetables. 

To answer the question, why she deserves to become the next Miss Universe Philippines, she said, “I believe that the next Miss Universe Philippines should embody a beauty that goes beyond superficial. If I were to become the next queen, I would use this platform for a purpose to inspire others and to influence our community to make a difference.”

According to Sonja, what makes a woman uniquely beautiful is humanity. “In this day and age, no matter what society tells us, we are all humans who have imperfections, therefore, we must love and accept each other because by doing so the world becomes a prestigious place to live in, where humans, both men and women are beautiful,” she added.
