Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra conferred with Padma Shri, awarded by Indian President

Priyanka Chopra’s journey from Miss World 2000 to a Global Icon is nothing but an open dictionary! Her dedication and hardwork has made her reach on the top. She started her career as a model and after winning the crown of Miss World 2000, she stepped into Bollywood in 2013. Her Bollywood journey has been amazing and to a large extent, she has entertained the audience with her commendable acting skills.

Today, the multi-skilled personality has been bestowed with one of the most prestigious honours in the country, Padma Shri Award. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, honoured her at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Dressed in traditional attire, Priyanka Chopra looked stunning and graceful. The Desi Girl was clad in a lime-green sari donning a bindi on her forehead, and she was a pleasant sight to watch! She especially flew down from Montreal to collect this honour.

Priyanka took to Twitter earlier to share her happiness, "I am happy and excited that this honour came my way. It has been a good year for me. The start has been great. I am grateful to people who have acknowledged my work. Being the daughter of an army officer, this honour makes it more special."

The former Miss World has been a part of Hindi cinema for almost a decade and has made India proud globally with her stint in the American TV series ‘Quantico’. The actress, who is currently riding high on the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Bajirao Mastani’, has even bagged a Hollywood film, ‘Baywatch’, alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. She also became the first South Asian actor to win the People's Choice Awards (Favourite actress) for her American TV show Quantico in January this year.
