Miss World 2021 Top 40: Lavanya Sivaji representing Malaysia

Miss World 2021, the 70th edition of Miss World, will be held on 16th March 2022 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In a recent announcement made by the Miss World organization, Top 40 delegates were selected to enter the final leg of the competition.

In a series of features, here are the forty delegates, in no particular order, (15 from the fast-track competitions and 25 through judges’ choice) who will fly to Puerto Rico for the coronation night. Lavanya Sivaji representing Malaysia has secured a spot in Top 40 by being one of the judges’ choice winners.

 

 

Lavanya is 25 years of age and stands 175 cm tall. She is a Malaysian doctor who hails from Batu Caves in Selangor. The stunning beauty is of Indian descent. In 2015, she enrolled at the National Defence University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur to pursue her medical degree.

Not new to the pageantry, she competed at Miss Malaysia Indian Global in 2019 held in Petaling Jaya, Selangor where she ended up as the third runner-up. In 2021, she competed against 37 other candidates from all across Malaysia in a virtual contest of Miss World Malaysia 2021 which she won.

Lavanya Sivaji is the founder of 4Them, an advocacy and charity project focusing on nutrition and health issues concerning and focused on the Orang Asli community in Malaysia. Sivaji's latest initiative under 4Them includes online sales of hand-printed leaf motif T-shirts made by the villagers. She also participated in a health initiative by NGO Doctors On Ground, where she conducted health checkups on Rohingya refugees in Selayang.

Malaysia has yet to win the Miss World crown though Lina Teoh came close as 2nd runner up in 1998. Lavanya, being from the medical background, has strong chances of making it to the Top at Miss World this year.
