The Miss World Organization had announced a few months ago that the 70th edition of Miss World i.e., Miss World 2021 will be held on 16th December 2021 in Coca Cola Music Hall, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Due to the pandemic, Miss World organization cancelled the 2020 edition last year. Thus, the reigning queen Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will crown her successor at the 2021 edition.

This year’s edition will see more than 100 candidates from different parts of the world compete for the coveted crown in Puerto Rico, which will be the first Latin American country to host Miss World. Many countries have already begun the process to select their representatives for the pageant, while others have already appointed their delegates and are preparing for the journey ahead.

One of the biggest achieving countries in the Miss World league has been Malaysia with a total of 9 placements over the past few decades. The current titleholder of Miss World Malaysia is Alexis SueAnn of Kuala Lumpur. She represented Malaysia at Miss World 2019 in London, United Kingdom and placed as one of the Top 40 quarter-finalist and will now crown her successor.

While Malaysian delegates have never failed to make the country proud at the international platform, their participation in this year’s competition is under speculations for now. Due to the increasing cases of Covid-19, the Malaysian government has been extending lockdowns and restrictive measures in almost every two weeks.

A nationwide lockdown has been effective since June 1, which bans all economic and social activities except essential services, which is why the process of the Miss World Malaysia 2021 is at halt and surrounded by uncertainty. The reigning queen, Miss World Malaysia 2019/20 Alexis Sue Ann, in a recent statement, clarified that the organization is trying its best to hold a competition this year.

She also mentioned that the competition depends on the current covid situation in Malaysia as the increase or decrease in cases determines whether it can be held or not. The pageant fanatics are eager to witness the new representative of Malaysian beauty but it seems like they will have to wait and pray for the country and its people in the hope for a competition to be held this year.

As the Miss World 2021 is almost round the corner, the organization and fans are hopeful as they do not wish to break Malaysia’s chain of placements at the Miss World pageant and soon come back with an exciting competition and a stunning delegate for the title of Miss World Malaysia 2021.
