Miss World Philippines 2021 postponed indefinitely

The Miss World Philippines organization took to their social media, a few hours ago, to announce that the 2021 edition has been postponed anew in compliance with the government and IATF’s stricter ECQ restrictions in NCR. They said, “In compliance with the government and IATF’s new mandate for stricter ECQ restrictions in the NCR from August 6-20 due to the alarming upsurge in Covid-19 cases caused by the Delta variant, the Miss World Philippines organization has decided to postpone its coronation night indefinitely until further notice.”

"We can only confirm the final date as soon as the government and IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) lifts the ECQ and declares a state of normalcy. We believe that the health and safety of our candidates, as well as everyone else involved in the pageant, take precedence over everything else during these crucial times," the statement read.

The announcement comes just a few days before the pageant was supposed to happen in Metro Manila on 8th August 2021. The region is set to be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until 20th August. ECQ is the strictest form of lockdown in the Philippines.

This is the third time that the pageant has been moved or postponed their date for the coronation this year. They first announced that the finals would be held on 11th July, but later moved the date. Next, Miss World Philippines was supposed to crown a new set of title holders on 25th July, but decided to postpone it to 8th August after Metro Manila was placed on tighter pandemic restrictions due to spikes in COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, the organization also appointed Dindi Pajares as Miss Supranational Philippines 2021 after they announced that the pageant finals would be postponed to 8th August, since the Miss Supranational pageant is set to take place on 21st August in Poland and delegates of respective countries needed to fly out by the first week of the month.

Currently, 44 girls are vying for the remaining titles, which are, Miss World Philippines, Miss Eco Philippines, Miss Eco Teen Philippines, Reinahispanoamericana Filipinas, Miss Multinational, Miss Philippines Tourism, and Miss Environment International.
