The Miss World Philippines organization pulled through the coronation for Miss World Philippines 2021, after five postponements, on 3rd October 2021 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center, Hall A, where Tracy Maureen Perez of Cebu was crowned as the new queen and Ganiel Krishnan from Cavite was crowned as the second princess at the end of the event.

In a recent development, Ganiel Krishnan came forward to announce her resignation from the title as she said, “I regret to inform you of my decision to relinquish my Miss World Philippines Second Princess 2021 title and consequently resign from the Miss World Organization effective immediately.”

“As you very well know, I have a thriving career as a lifestyle and entertainment news reporter in ABS-CBN before I entered the competition and have never kept my intentions to go back to it a secret, regardless of the outcome of the pageant. While I am deeply honored to have been named a Princess in this year’s MWP search, my contractual obligations with the network will not allow me to serve two masters. Realizing this led me into making a decision to pursue the dream which will have the greater impact to actually serving my fellow Filipinos and that is through broadcasting,” she added.

The stunning diva also announced her retirement from pageantry as she wrote, “I truly am grateful to have joined Miss World Philippines 2021, which also marks my last foray into the world of pageantry. It was one big learning experience for me which, I know, will help me score even greater triumphs in the future.”

Notified of Ganiel’s resignation, the Miss World Philippines Organization also released an official statement to address her decision which read, “The Miss World Philippines organization respects Ganiel Krishnan's decision to relinquish her title as MWP 2021 2nd Princess to resume and prioritize her career as a journalist. Taking her place is Janelle Lewis who gladly accepted the duties and responsibilities that come with her crown.”

Janelle Lewis of Angeles City, Pampanga is a 19 year-old Filipino British beauty queen and actor. She took part in the latest edition of “Starstruck” – the GMA reality TV search for potential stars to be built up for their shows and teleseryes. She did not win that one, but was still signed up. Shortly after, she was able to appear in guest/supporting roles from time to time.

During the final question answer round, Janelle was asked, “With the pandemic right now, what’s more important: You having money or being safe and healthy?” A confident Janelle answered saying, “To me, honestly, during the pandemic, I’ve learned that there’s nothing more important than being safe. Because, to me, nothing else matters than money when you have your family with you. Bringing your family into a very difficult situation can lead into a heartbreak. I feel like there’s nothing more that could hurt me more than losing a loved one.” Her appointment came as a surprise to her but she is elated to take over the duties as the Miss World Philippines 2021 2nd Princess.

Congratulations queen!
