Ntandoyenkosi Kunene crowned as Miss South Africa 2016

On a ravishing and one-of-a-kind finale of Miss South Africa 2016, held on March 19’ 2016, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene was crowned Miss South Africa 2016. The outgoing Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie passed her crown and reign to the winner. The winner will be involved in promotional work and celebrity appearances, and will have to travel locally and abroad. She will be meeting dignitaries, celebrities, the privileged and the underprivileged.

At the same event, Elizabeth Molapo was adjudged First Runner-up, and Tayla Skye Robinson was titled Second Runner-up. The gala finale was a mesmerizing event, with the twelve finalists sashaying the ramp with their preeminent display of loveliness, poise and sophistication.

The grand finale of Miss South Africa 2016 was judged by renowned panel of juries, including the three returning judges who are; entrepreneur, poet, writer and former magazine editor, Kojo Baffoe, actress and TV personality Sophie Ndaba and Bloemfontein designer Casper Bosman.

The 12 contestants were judged on an array of criteria including their leadership qualities, communication skills, beauty and talent, physical fitness and dedication to community service.

The finale started with the beautiful candidates walking the ramp in their respective opening numbers. The outfits were designed by the renowned designers, and looked amazing on the finalist’s perfect and well-crafted figure. The dresses were chosen to portray the contestants in the most romantic and feminine way. Then there was the swimsuit and the evening gown competition.

The finale was graced by various artistes, who performed and showcased their extraordinary talent. Monique Bingham undoubtedly brought the heat, performing Deep in the Bottom (of Africa) live on the 2016 Miss South Africa stage.

After the Prelims, it was time to announce the Top 8 finalists - Sarah Botes, Schane Venter, Sharon-Rose Khumalo, Tayla Skye Robinson, Elizabeth Molapo, Luyolo MngonyamaNtandoyenkosi Kunene and Reabetswe Sechoaro. The top 8 were then refined to Top 5 finalists – Sarah Botes, Tayla Skye, Sharon Khumalo, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, and Elizabeth Molapo.

The Top 5 were then analyzed on the basis of the Question and Answer round, which eventually led to the announcement of the winners.
