Miss World Philippines alumni make it to the nominations for PMPC Star Awards for Movies

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) has announced the nominees for the 36th edition of Star Awards for Movies. This edition will be led by 2021 PMPC President Roldan Castro together with 2020 PMPC President Sandy Es Mariano, and the officers and members of the Philippine Movie Press Club.  

Miss World Philippines took to their social media to share the new that three of the stunning alumni of Miss World Philippines has been recognized for their tremendous work in the field of cinema and have been nominated for their respective movies. Let’s look at the alumni:

Reina Hispanoamericana Philippines 2018 Alyssa Muhlach Alvarez has been nominated under the category of New Movie Actress of the Year for her movie, ‘Clarita’ which is a horror film and the beauty queen plays the titular character. She explained that she does not watch horror movies at all but when she read the script she was intrigued by the story and the challenge that comes along with playing such characters. She was highly appreciated for her role in the movie and thus is nominated.

 

 

Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Marquez Dee has been nominated under the category of New Movie Actress of the Year for her movie, ‘Because I Love You’ which is a romantic comedy movie starring Shaira Diaz and David Licauco.

 

 

Miss World Philippines 2018 Laura Victoria Lehmann has been nominated under the category of New Movie Actress of the Year for her movie, ‘Elise’, plays Enchong Dee's girlfriend. The movie also stars Janine Gutierrez, Miko Raval, Miel Espinosa, and Victor Anastacio in this film directed by Joel Ferrer. "It's a lot of fun to experience different sides of yourself and to portray yourself in different ways. It's very exciting for me. But it's super different," she said.

 

 

However, despite her debut in the film industry, the beauty queen stated that she is still holding to her dreams of becoming a doctor. "When I do something, I really want to make sure I put my whole heart into it. And if I want to become a doctor, I should be in class every day. And I would need time for that," she said.

Since the announcement, the wishes and love has been pouring out for the former queens who decided to take a turn towards acting and use their potential to entertain people.
