All about Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 Maricielo Gamarra

 

Peru’s Maricielo Gamarra created history with a back-to-back win for her country at the finale of Reina Hispanoamericana 2023 held on 28th January 2024 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. A Peruvian television presenter, Gamarra hails from San Martin, Peru.

Educational Background

Maricielo Gamarra earned her bachelor’s degree in communication and media from Universidad de Piura in Piura, Peru in 2016. In 2015, she studied media and business communication at Universidad Austral in Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Between the years, Gamarra worked as a reporter at America Television in Piura.

Advocacy & Humanitarian Causes

Maricielo Gamarra is also an ambassador of ‘Peru´ sin Anemia’ which focuses on combating childhood anemia. Through her efforts, Gamarra spreads knowledge about healthy diets, rights of children, fight malnutrition and hunger. 

 

 

Historic win & Reaction

On winning the second Peruvian crown and winning the back-toback victory for Peru, Gamarra took to her official social media as she wrote, “My heart has nothing but words of gratitude to Miss Peru, PG Gloria, Reina Hispanoamericana and Jessica Newton for letting me live this experience. It fills my soul to give this beautiful triumph to all my beloved Peru and to the people who have supported me since the day I started the beauty contests. Thanks to all the team that was behind me, the designers, makeup artists, runway teachers, and oratory who have followed this competition step by step. Also thank @gabrielnardiello1 for every night of unveiling trying to get everything in order to come to Bolivia. To my sponsors and especially to my mother for giving me that strength.”

Pageantry Background

In 2020, Gamarra represented San Martin at Miss Peru 2020 and competed against 23 other candidates where she placed third. In January 2021, she was appointed Miss Grand Peru 2020 as she replaced Samantha Batallanos Cortegana for the title. In 2021, Gamarra represented Peru at Miss Grand International 2020 in Thailand where she finished in the Top 20.
