31 Jan 2024 | Priya Bhardwaj

Miss Denmark organization, through their official social media, announced the appointment of Johanne Grundt Hansen as the official Miss World Denmark 2023 in May 2023 as she became the official representative of Denmark at Miss World 2023. Johanne is none other than the titleholder of Miss Denmark 2021 and has been preparing to represent her country at the international competition which will be held in India.

Johanne Grundt Hansen is 21 years of age and a sales assistant by profession. She is a part-time model from Fensmark. Karate has been a part of Johanne’s life since she was 8 years old. Johanne has participated in numerous karate competitions, both in kumite and kata and at the age of 18, Johanne received her black belt.

Not new to the pageantry, Johanne, after winning Miss Denmark 2021, was appointed as Miss Supranational Denmark 2022 and went on to compete at Miss Supranational 2022 pageant in Nowy Sacz, Poland. Unfortunately, she could not place in Top 24. However, her international participation will give her the experience she needs to represent Denmark at an esteemed stage such as Miss World.

Johanne is an ambassador for Plastic Change, a Danish NGO that aims to raise awareness about the growing plastic pollution in the oceans and the water environment. She wishes to raise awareness through her reign about the same and also make it her advocacy as she now prepares to compete at Miss World 2023.

"I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself an ambassador for the organization PlasticChange. PlasticChange is an organization with a vision of a society where we have ended the single-use culture and established sustainable systems where we can use our products, packaging and materials again and again", she wrote.

As Miss World Denmark, Johanne feels a responsibility to make a meaningful impact. She believes it's not just about wearing a crown but about using that symbol to create positive change. Johanne has wholeheartedly committed to raising awareness about the environmental impact of plastic for which she has engaged in public awareness campaigns to put light on the consequences of plastic pollution and created her own plastic clean ups.

“It's my sincere belief that through knowledge and collective action, we can make strides towards a more sustainable future. The journey continues, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cause that goes beyond the stage and into the heart of our shared responsibility for the planet", she added.

Miss World 2023, the 71st edition of the Miss World, will be held in India in March 2024 where Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska of Poland will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
