Ismelys Velásquez of Venezuela was crowned Reinado Internacional del Café 2022 on 8th January 2022 in Colombia who succeeded Iris Guerra of El Salvador for the crown. Twenty contestants from all over the world competed for the coffee crown as Venezuela’s candidate emerged victorious.
Ismelys is a 22-year-old model and a student of international relations at Universidad Central de Venezuela. Not new to the pageantry, Velásquez holds the titles Miss La Guaira 2020 and Miss Mesoamérica International 2021. She placed in the Top 10 of Miss Venezuela 2020 while representing the Venezuelan state of La Guaira.
On being asked about her motivation, Ismelys said, "I have had the opportunity to participate in different beauty contests, but simultaneously I am studying international studies at the Central University of Venezuela, something that has shown me that they are two careers that help me fulfill a dream that is to raise the name of my country. and praise this wonderful fruit that fills us with joy and happiness, such as Colombian coffee. "
Ismelys became the fifth Venezuelan representative to win the coffee crown. Ismelys will continue to carry the message and continue working and promoting this wonderful grain that fills everyone with joy every morning. Born in La Guaira, the stunning beauty is a fluent speaker of English and practices singing and playing volleyball.
The Venezuelan queen captivated the jury with her integrity, charisma and determination. She spoke, “Happy, excited, I feel that this is the result of the hard work that was done and I am grateful to Manizales, to the organization, to the qualifying jury, because now I bring this joy to my country and of course to work for this fruit.”
“I feel that I have a responsibility to continue working with different organizations to demonstrate the importance of coffee. Many times we do not give it the value it deserves and now as queen I will raise my voice , use my image also to convey the message of the importance it has and that we can find very good results by betting on it”, she added.
In the fantasy parade, she wore a suit designed by Monix and Fornes, who came together to create a typical suit that was made of imitation leather embodied in hundreds of Nordic crystals, silver, gold and onyx.
Along with her, Maria Eduarda Valotto of Brazil was adjudged Virreina Internacional del Café 2022, while Mariana Loaiza of Colombia, Luciana Martínez of El Salvador and Rebecca Stoughton of United States were adjudged first, second, third runners-up respectively.
