The search for the new Green Glam Queen of South Africa is on. The one major problem that the world is facing these days is the increasing issue of climate change. While the entire world is fighting the dreadful consequences of climatic change, the Miss Earth South Africa ambassadors are also doing their bit across the country, by spreading awareness about the same.
Miss South Africa 2017 is on its road to the finale and celebrates its 14th year of empowering South African women. The winner of Miss South Africa 2017 will go on to become advocates for waste management, recycling, climate change, food security, water stewardship and energy efficiency. The theme of the pageant this year is #WasteStopsWithMe, a campaign that measures each person’s impact on the environment.

The executive directors of the Miss Earth South Africa leadership programs are award winning duo Ella Bella and Catherine Constantinides. The duo is also working on Miss Earth Zambia, Miss Earth Namibia and Miss Earth Mozambique. “Our vision is to create a continental network of young climate leaders who are passionately changing the face of Africa,” said Constantinides.
Entries for the 2017 Miss Earth South Africa closes on 24th march 2017. National workshops and castings will take place weekly across the country, at Tsogo Sun venues, during the month of April. Workshops will include a green-minded approach to sharing the journey of being a Miss Earth ambassador, a key focus on waste management, separation at source, recycling, climate change and food security. In addition to general casting, a project day is also scheduled for each region, so that the candidates are able to engage with the community to make a direct impact.
