Miss Colombia 2016 postponed to March 2017 from November 2016

The much anticipated Señorita Colombia also known as Miss Colombia pageant has been postponed to March 2017, reason being the new Miss Universe regulation. The official announcement was made through a press release by the Concurso Nacional de Belleza of Colombia. The press release was signed by the President of the Organisation; Raimundo Pizarro which confirmed that for the first time, the Miss Colombia pageant will be re-scheduled from its traditional schedule of November, and will be held in March 2017.

According to the Press Release, the change in the date was a direct order from the Miss Universe Organisation and IMG. The order stated that all national license holders need to move their pageant dates accordingly as according to the new MU regulation it is prohibited to have two reigning queens at the same time.

The Señorita Colombia pageant has been based in Cartagena since 1947 and is traditionally held every November, to coincide with the dates of the celebrations of Independence.

The Miss Colombia or Concurso Nacional de Belleza de Colombia is a national beauty pageant which started in the year 1934. Colombia has so far never managed to win one 'Miss Universe' title, and has won Miss International thrice till now. The three Miss International winners are as follows Maria Stella Márquez in the year 1960, Margarita Paulina Gálvez in the year 1999 and Jeymmy Vargas in the year 2004. Miss Colombia has never won the Miss Universe title.
