Make up tutorial by Deshauna Barber – A must watch to achieve pageant glam

28 Jul 2016 | Angelopedia

Deshauna Barber the new Miss USA 2016 hails from an Army background and before entering into the work of pageantry, Deshauna wasn’t aware of the A, B, C of makeup as she has never been exposed to glamour. Thus she had to put herself through school - the school of pageant makeup.

Deshauna, an officer in the Army Reserve, was born into a military family and she never took Make up thing serious until she was crowned Miss District of Columbia 2015.

According to Deshauna, makeup was something she had to learn to do pretty late in her life. "It took around five or six months to get down the step-by-steps and what works best for my skin and my gown," she told Cosmopolitan.com. By the time she got to Miss USA, she had mastered the look.

The beauty queen stopped by the Cosmo studio with a No makeup face ("Without makeup; very few people have seen me this way," Deshauna said. "Mostly only my boyfriend has seen me without makeup on. So this is definitely a fresh look.")

Here is a step by step tutorial of Deshauna’s make-up…

First Step – Miss USA 2016, Deshauna preps her face first with MAC Oil Control Lotion ($33) over her face. "I have really oily skin so it keeps the pores from filling up," she stated. She then applies Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($16). Over her eyelids, she uses MAC Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base ($22).

Second Step – Then she gets to work on her eyebrows. After brushing them, she fills her brows using a pencil (she has been using it so much that the label has completely faded!). A total perfectionist about her brows, she then cleans up around the edges with NARS Concealer ($25) and LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer ($3).

Third step – Next, Deshauna applies eye shadow. She uses MAC Eye Shadow ($16) in the "Folie" shade over her whole lid. She applies MAC Eye Shadow in "Embark" over the crease and in the corners. She follows with The Perfect Face Eye Shadow ($16) in "Raevan" in the outer corner of the lid. The big pop of shine comes from the Covergirl truNaked Eye Shadow ($10) in the "Sunkissed Soleil Couchant" shade from the Goldens palette. Then a few coats of mascara using Covergirl Lash Blast Volume ($7) and the eyes are done!

Fourth Step – She follows the eye makeup with concealer and base makeup. She uses her NARS Concealer under her eyes, followed by MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation ($27) in the "NC50" shade all over her face. She goes back under her eyes with the L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer.

She highlights with Ben Nye Luxury Powder ($15) in "Banana" under her eyes, and on her forehead, chin, and nose. (Blend, blend, blend.) Then she lightly coats her face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural ($32) in "Dark."
