At the recently concluded International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema Milan (Italy), the gorgeous and talented Miss Earth 2005 and popular Venezuelan actress Alexandra Braun won the Best Actress award for her lead role in the movie "UMA". The movie also won the Best Film, Best Editing, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor awards.
The movie tells the story of UMA, the role played by Alexandra, who lives in Italy and meets a writer. The movie is about the inexplicable chemistry between her and the writer, which later becomes a love story that springs up on the wonderful coasts of Gaeta. And then an accident changes their lives!
Alexandra's victory in Miss Earth 2005 beauty pageant propelled her modelling career and soon she started acting in Venezuelan movies becoming a household name in Venezuela. She is now an established model having appeared in numerous television spots, magazines and advertising campaigns not only in her home country but also in Philippines, Romania, Malaysia, Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica and Bolivia.
Alexandra also made history when she became the first-ever Venezuelan to win the Miss Earth title at the finale of Miss Earth 2005 pageant held on 23rd October 2005 in the Philippines. She was crowned by another Latina beauty Priscilla Meirelles of Brazil, Miss Earth 2004.
