Karishma Ramdev: Another doctor to dominate Miss World?

10 Jul 2020 | Camilla Suarez

Ever since Karishma Ramdev joined Miss South Africa 2020 Top 35, pageant fanatics have begun to include her in all the wishlists to be crowned Miss World South Africa 2020 and rightly so as Doctors have dominated the Miss World pageant in the last few decades.

Taking examples of Miss World 1966 Reita Faria Powell, Miss World 2014 Rolene Strauss, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar, Miss England 2019 Bhasha Mukherjee to name a few, it has been seen that medical professionals not only embody the beauty and the brains but also the very essence of Miss World – Beauty with a Purpose.

Karishma Ramdev, the 25-year-old doctor from Chatsworth in KwaZulu-Natal, is also being encouraged by the fans all over the country to represent South Africa in Miss World 2020 this year and hence being rooted to win the Miss World South Africa 2020 crown. Karishma is a qualified medical doctor working at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital.

Karishma has already shown her tremendous potential as she is currently working in one of the main COVID hospitals dealing with the coronavirus. Being a doctor is definitely a hard task but being a part of the beauty pageant along with it just shows how incredibly fierce and determined this beauty queen is.

Along with being a beauty with power, Karishma also has quite a lot of experience in the pageantry itselfas she earlier competed in Miss South Africa 2018, where she performed exceedingly well at the gala night and locked a spot in the Top 5. This experience will also be helpful for Karishma as she will move forward in the competition.

Beauty with a Purpose, the backbone of Miss World platform, requires the representatives to work on a platform which they believe in. For Karishma, if she were to represent South Africa, this wont be a difficult task to do as she already serves people through her profession. If history is to be believed, it has been seen that all the former Miss World winners (from the medical background) went on to do outstanding work all over the world with their titles and platform. In our opinion, therefore, Karishma seems like an ideal contestant to represent South Africa at Miss World 2020.
