The finale of Miss Universe Great Britain 2022 was held on 9th July 2022 at the Riverfront Arts Centre in Newport, Wales where Noky Simbani won the national crown. Along with her, Lauren Elizabeth Parkinson placed in the Top 5, creating history in the national pageant history.
However, this will be the last pageantry stint for Lauren as she is finishing her pageant journey as the highest placing openly gay contestant in Miss Universe Great Britain history. Lauren originally entered pageantry after a violent assault forced her to return home and rebuild her life and herself from scratch. It's one of the reasons why she is so passionate about beauty pageants and the platform it provides so that she can advocate about stopping violence.
Lauren, saying goodbye to her beloved pageant fans, took to her official social media as she wrote, “My time competing may be over and I pinky promise this is for good as I am now making my future plans but this does not mean a goodbye to pageantry all together. I’m sure I will be seeing many of you in the future. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me along these past 7 years.”
In her pageantry career span of 7 years, Lauren has achieved quite a lot. From being a finalist in Miss Wales 2016 to winning Miss Galaxy Wales after that making her way to Uk Power Pageant where she was crowned Miss Grand Wales, Lauren has definitely come a long way.
Lauren then went on to participate at Miss Wales 2021 and placed 1st runner up and ended up with a Top 5 placement making history at Miss Universe Great Britain 2022. She has definitely had a strong career, a career she can be proud of. Angelopedia wishes her all the best for her future endeavors.
