Mexicana Universal 2020 will be the 3rd edition of the Mexicana Universal pageant. Thirty-two candidates from all over the Mexican Republic will compete for the national title. Mexicana Universal 2019 Sofía Aragón of Jalisco will crown her successor at end of the event. The winner will represent Mexico at Miss Universe 2020.
Karla Ochoa was crowned Mexicana Universal Sonora 2019 on 8th November 2019 and is one of the strongest contenders for the title of Mexicana Universal 2020. She is 23-years-old and stands 173 cm tall. She is a student of the law degree and works as an activist with a Civil Association; "Leave your mark" that helps children and older adults. She also works as a model and is very passionate about representing Mexico at Miss Universe stage. She started to prepare for the beauty pageants at the age of 12.
On asking how beauty pageants have impacted her life, diva stated that the beauty pageants like Mexicana Universal Sonora or Mexicana Universal has helped her to grow in all aspects of her life. She further added that she has been able to be explore and evolve as a stronger, capable, confident, tenacious, disciplined and woman. “It has certainly helped me develop my potentials and of course, also to meet excellent people who have been enthusiastic along with me on this path”, she concluded.
As mentioned, that Karla is a law student and is in her 9th semester of Law, she would like to use the platform given to her with the knowledge she has gained from her course to communicate and promote issues important to her life such as Values and Education. In addition to fighting within her Law career, she wants to send a message to the legislature about creating awareness about the priority that should be given to the laws that govern school environments. She wants to the government to give importance to the laws in school in order to avoid crimes and be able to enjoy a better Mexican society.
On asking about what motivated her to participate at beauty pageant, Karla mentioned that she has admired every woman who has walked on-stage and aspired to be one too. She did some research and found out that the divas had to prepare a lot to be able to represent their respective country on Miss Universe stage with a motive to change something in the world too. That motivated her to participate because she dreamt of representing Mexico at Miss Universe stage and wanted to bring government’s attention towards the laws made for a healthy school environment.
Karla describes herself as a woman with perseverance, discipline, and justice who likes to “Fight for your dreams”. She admires Benito Jua´rez (26th president of Mexico) for his personal history and for being a Mexican lawyer proud of his roots, who fought for a better Mexico, a key character in the history of our country. Along with Benito, she admires Rocky Balboa; a fictional character, for being a persevering and disciplined boxer who always came out ahead in his challenges within boxing despite different circumstances.
Karla believes in "Love yourself, trust you, that your actions are a reflection of your values, persist and you will achieve your dreams” motto as she prepares herself for the finale night. She has always thanked everyone who has helped her to stay motivated and supported her in her dreams and believed in her. She is preparing for the finale night by working on her on-stage walk, body postures, body angles, confidence, communication, and interview skills. Karla Ochoa is one of the strongest contenders for the title.
