The organization of Miss Beauty of the Netherlands hosted the coronation ceremony for Miss Beauty of the Netherlands 2021 on 29th August 2021 at the Studio 21 Eventlocatie, Hilversum, the Netherlands where Saartje Langstraat was crowned as the new queen. The diva succeeds Miss Earth Netherlands 2020 Tessa le Conge for the title and will now represent the country at Miss Earth 2021.
Saartje is 20-years-old. She enrolled at Erasmus University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in international media and communication. She represented South Holland at the competition, where she showcased immense dedication and determination to win the crown. She is a model and an entrepreneur with an eco-friendly fashion business supporting a foundation for impoverished children.
After winning the crown, she took to her social media to share the news, "WHAT A NIGHT! Everything still feels so surreal to me. Yesterday, I enjoyed every second of the evening together with my fellow queens. I am so proud of the show we have put on! I am so excited about what is to come with this wonderful team! I want to thank everyone who came to cheer us on, whether it be at home or Studio 21. And thank you to the people who made this evening possible! I will do my utmost best to represent The Netherlands in Miss Earth 2021. "
During her time of the preparations for the crown, the diva learned how important it is to be comfortable about who you are, "Don’t worry about how you fit in, please worry about how you can stand out." Saartje advocates for eco-friendly activities and sustainability and will be using the platform to raise awareness regarding the same. She became a huge fan of slow fashion, mainly because of the environmental impact of the fast fashion industry. Her idea of being fashionable has also changed. "Fast fashion relies on social media models who buy a huge number of clothes very frequently. In the past, I thought that it would be very easy to be fashionable if you had many clothes. But that’s not truly fashionable in my eyes anymore. I realized that it’s the quality, not the quantity, that matters. My closet has shrunk a lot since then. Most of my clothes are either vintage, self-made, or bought consciously."
The beauty queen feels honored and blessed that with Miss Beauty of the Netherlands she got to share her passion for sustainable fashion with everyone and experience things that will stay with her for the rest of her life. She had mentioned, "I found myself reaching new levels of self-knowledge and high achievements."
Saartje believes that her title does not only mean that she looks good, but that it’s also about the ideals she stands for. "At the beginning, I didn’t know much about what becoming Miss Beauty meant or stood for. But soon I started to realize that how you present yourself, or how you participate in activities to raise money for a good cause, really has a lot of impact on whether you will get the crown. It’s brain before beauty. "
The diva looks beautiful, confident, and dedicated to the competition and will now start her preparations for Miss Earth 2021. With her understanding and will to win, she could emerge as one of the strongest contenders for the crown.
