Miss Universe Myanmar 2020 Thuzar Wint Lwin took to her official social media to reveal the national costume she will be showcasing at the national costume competition to be held tomorrow, i.e. 13th May 2021. The costume is inspired by a famous toy from Myanmar’s culture titled ‘Thu-Nge-Taw's trustee Pyit-Tine-Htaung’.

The costume has been designed by Pyae Sone (Hpa-An). Thuzar wrote, “Pyit-Tine-Htaung directly translates to getting up from every throw is made of paper and shaped like an oval where the bottom is bigger than the top, the reason why it always stays upright. Gender of the toy can be identified with the drawing of the face.”

Thuzar will be wearing Thu-Nge-Naw costume and accessories to perform the traditional dance where golden bracelets, foot chains and medallion are worn during the ceremony. The shoes imitate the phoenix from the Myanmar legends and the hair has to be tied in a pigtail like fashion.

She also wrote, “The unique characteristics of "Pyit-Tine-Htaung" is that it can get right up by itself whenever it falls in any situation, this is meant to reflect the characteristics of the people of Myanmar and that is why it is proudly presented as this year’s national costume of Miss Universe Myanmar.”

Miss Universe organization is all set to host the national costume competition which will take place on Thursday, 13th May 2021 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel, Florida. The competition is a separate part of the pageant and doesn’t count towards contestants’ overall scores.
