The organization of Miss World Philippines had announced that the finale of Miss World Philippines 2020 will be held in the month of December where the divas from all over the country will compete for the national title and the opportunity to represent the Philippines at Miss World 2020. The organization will also crown the representative of the Philippines to Miss Supranational from this year.
The organization also announced that the participation of the previous title holders will also be allowed if they are eligible (age) and not crowned Miss World Philippines prior to this edition. With wish lists being prepared for the crown, Steffi Aberasturi seems like an ideal contender for Miss World Philippines 2020 crown. Steffi is 25-years-old and stands 170 cm tall and has graduated with a degree in Tourism Management from University of San Carlos. She works as an ESL teacher and a professional model as well.
Steffi is not new to the world of pageantry as she has won various titles such as Sinulog Festival Queen 2011, Miss Campus Femme 2012, etc. She was also the winner of Binibining Cebu 2018-2019 and has shown immense dedication and determination to represent the country at international stage. She wants everyone to know that they should keep following their aspirations until they have achieved it.
The diva had explained that while growing up, she preferred much simpler clothes and sometimes didn’t even bothered dressing up but her sister Crystal Star Aberasturi-Kang introduced her to a new form of self-expression. “My sister, she’s really kikay and super girly so she influenced me a lot. She taught me how to wear clothes and put on makeup. Thanks to her I turned out this way!” she stated. The diva also mentioned that she is very grateful for her parent’s support as they are her biggest influence and among many things, they taught her are humility and the value of the family.
When she’s not gracing one event after the other in the metro, you might chance upon Steffi on the beach. She loves going on trips, with the beach her happy place. Spending time under the sun with her family is her absolute favourite thing to do. She is beautiful, confident, strong, and loves to be on-stage and the extravagant gowns paired up with sparkly crowns.
“When I was young, I was always fascinated by women wearing beautiful gowns. But what really caught my attention is that being part of a pageant gives you the chance to inspire people, touch lives, promote your advocacy and make a difference to yourself and others,” Steffi shared. The diva stated that beauty pageants have helped her to give her a sense of direction and a chance for her to share her passion, talent, promote advocacy and people to hear her voice.
Steffi is also a mentor at the Amore Modelling Institute, where she, alongside other beauty titlists, teach modelling to aspiring talents. Binibining Cebu batchmate Isabela Deutsch, who won Binibining Cebu Ecology 2018, was among her students. Steffi aspires to be a positive and impactful role model for the people in her community and is very passionate about it. She admires Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach for being an inspiration and the ways that she tries to leave a positive mark. Steffi felt so blessed to have a lot of people rooting for her. It helped take her mind off her anxieties.
Steffi’s advocacy works on promoting Philippines’ culture. Hers is an advocacy that comes with dual purpose: one is to keep the tradition of weaving alive and the other is to give weavers profitable opportunities while they pursue their crafts. “Weaving promotes our history, our culture. I want to revive that age-old tradition and let the weavers see the true value of their crafts, and give them, especially women, opportunities to learn and to generate income,” she explains.
If she deicides to participate, she can be a strong contender at Miss World Philippines 2020 and use the platform to advocate about her advocacy and making a positive change in the society.
