Will it be a Sandwich win for Miss World like Miss Universe this year?

South Africa created history this year by winning the Miss Universe 2019 crown yet again as the country made its first Sandwich win in the coveted pageant. When a country wins the pageant in the first year, does not win it the next year and then again wins it in the third year, it is referred as a sadwich win. Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa won Miss Universe 2019 after Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who won in 2017.

The question now arises if the same sandwich win can be created in Miss World as well this year. In 2017, Manushi Chhillar of India took home the Miss World 2017 crown with her stellar performance. Then in 2018, with Vanessa Ponce’s achievements Mexico took home the Miss World crown. This year for another Sandwich win to happen, India’s representative Suman Rao needs to win the Miss World 2019 crown.

Suman Rao, the 20-year-old beauty has mesmerised everyone with her stunning beauty and intelligence since the start of the competition. Her beauty is her idiosyncrasy but her intellect is what has won over everyone’s hearts. She has shown that she will be a fierce competitor at the competition with her achievements and hard work.

Since the beginning of the competition, Suman has performed well in almost every fast track event. She has already made her place in the Top 40 by winning the Head to head Challenge. She also is one of the Top 10 finalists of Beauty with a Purpose. At the recently held Top Model competition. Suman placed as the second runner-up proving she is an all-rounder when it comes to the coveted Miss World pageant.

The mesmerising beauty with brains, Suman also stands 177 cm tall supported by her slender frame and allure. Along with this, Suman also has a strong Beauty with a Purpose project, one of the most important segments of the pageant. Through her project ‘Pragati’, she aims to help the women of traditional communities to progress living in a regressive society. She aims to do away with the norms that restrict the movement of women in traditional communities and deny them the right to earn a living. She wants to eradicate the complete dependence on men that ensues translates to a lack of self-worth and agency over decisions.

In our opinion, she sure has a chance of winning Miss World 2019 crown and make a sandwich win for India. Interestingly, India is the only country which has a sandwich win in its record in Miss World history.

Also, India holds six Miss World crowns, the same number as Venezuela. If Suman brings the crown to India, the country will lead the Miss World pageant crown board with the most number of wins.
