Jannatul Nayeem Avril from Bangladesh was dethroned as the reigning Miss World Bangladesh 2017 for hiding information about her marriage. Though Miss World rules did not disqualify her due to her being married previously, Miss World Bangladesh organisation dethroned her for hiding the truth. Jessia Islam who was the second runner-up at the same contest was later crowned the eventual winner of the pageant, replacing Jannatul.
