Evelyn Abena Appiah was crowned Miss Grand International 2020 at the coronation night held on 27th March 2021 in Thailand. She succeeds Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera of Venezuela. She is 27 years of age and stands 178 cm tall. Abena is not new to the pageantry world as she has previously represented Ghana at Miss Earth 2019 where she was placed at the Top 20 and was also the part of Miss Universe 2014. The diva won Miss Talent Ghana in 2012 and Top Model Ghana 2013 after which she represented Ghana in the Top Model of The World pageant held in Egypt.

Abena holds a degree in Bachelor of Science and Communication. For her Q/A, she was asked, “With the current Covid-19 situation between shutting down the country for the safety of the people knowing that the country economic will collapsed and open the country to keep economic running and taking the risk of Covid-19 consequences. Which will you choose and why?” to which she replied, “I believe in proper solution and whenever there is a problem, we should sit down and find a proper solution. I would shut down the country because I believe that people come first; my people. If I was the governor/president of my country, I would do what is right for my people and by shutting down the country will give me proper time to analyse on what is going on and provide for my people and I would shut down the country.”
