Miss America 2020: Preliminary and Scholarship Award Winners

17 Dec 2019 | Angelique Reyes

The coronation ceremony of Miss America 2020 is all set to be held on 19th December 2019 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut. This will be the ninth year that the competition would not be held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Miss America 2019 Nia Franklin of New York will officially crown her successor at the end of the year.

The preliminaries consist of private interviews with the judges, an on-stage interview, their “social impact pitch” and the talent portion. The preliminary judging panel is made up of composer Anthony Barfield, model/lifestyle consultant Holly Pelham Davis; and Clinton Foundation executive director Stephanie S. Streett.

Miss America 2020 competition’s two preliminaries were held on Sunday night i.e 15th December 2019 where the delegates were judged for the title of scholarships, on stage interviews and talent awards.

Miss America 2020: Preliminary and Scholarship Award Winners

The first Miss New Jersey 2020 Jade Glab was named the onstage interview winner, earning a scholarship of $1,000. She is a student at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business where she studies finance. Jade’s social impact initiative is “Healthy Children, Strong America”.

Meanwhile Miss Michigan 2020 Mallory Rivard was the overall interview winner and was awarded a scholarship of $1,500. She is an early childhood education major at Saginaw Valley State University, and her social impact initiative is “Read to Succeed.”

Miss Georgia 2020 Victoria Hill was declared as the overall talent winner and earned a scholarship of $2,000. She performed a classical vocal, and it’s no wonder she won — she is a vocal performance major at Reinhardt University. Her social impact initiative is “Flip the Script on Foster Care.”

Miss America Foundation awards several scholarships to its participants. There are four categories under which they present a delegate with a scholarship. For now, they have five finalists under each category.
