Miss Universe 2020 fan-favourite delegates who failed to make it to Top 21

22 May 2021 | Priya Bhardwaj

Miss Universe 2020, the 69th edition of Miss Universe, was held last Sunday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA where Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned the new queen at the end of the event finale. She was crowned by Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi.

While the 69th edition was a successful one with outstanding performances from the delegates, there were a few divas who did not make it to Top 21, much to the disappointment of the pageant fans.

Miss Universe South Africa 2020 Natasha Joubert

Ever since Natasha Joubert was appointed to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2020, she cemented her place as one of the front-runners for the coveted crown. Everyone believed that she would atleast take up place as a finalist if not advance to the Top 2/3. Her beauty, communication skills, presentation was always top notch during the competition. However, nobody could really understand why her name wasn’t announced in the Top 21. The only reason could have been organization trying to prevent a back-to-back win for South Africa.

Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens

Nova Stevens made her impact even before she even entered Miss Universe 2020. As she reunited with her family after 21 long years, Nova’s unique story made her a favourite for the crown. Her modelesque physique, gait and a beautifully designed evening gown by Michael Cinco made Nova Stevens an unstoppable force. However, when she could not even advance to Top 21, the pageant fans felt disappointed for leaving out such a strong personality who could have made an impact with her presence on stage.

Miss Universe Romania 2020 Bianca Lorena Tirsin

Bianca Tirsin came to USA to represent Romania at Miss Universe 2020 but became one of the most sought-after candidates from Europe with her stunning beauty and allure. She was an early favourite for the crown who had already proven her potential in Miss Supranational and Miss International pageants. If Andrea Meza and Julia Gama equally outstanding performances made them such strong competitors this year, Bianca should not have been left out from the semi-finalists race.

Miss Universe Nepal 2020 Anshika Sharma

Nepal came in strongest this year at Miss Universe under Anshika Sharma’s delegation. With the best representation so far, Nepal stood a chance to win the coveted Miss Universe crown. From being a dark horse at early stages to being a major favourite as she progressed, Anshika aced the preliminaries in her swimsuit catwalk and regal walk in the evening gown. However, when she did not even make it to Top 21 which majorly was occupied by the Americas, the pageant fans were left in fumes with the decision of the jury.
