After the rampant spread of covid-19 all across the globe in 2020 and the pageantry almost coming to a halt, 2021 saw the slow return of international pageants being held in the world. While India made a grand comeback at Miss Universe after two decades, Philippines ruled the pageant world in 2021 with five international crowns. Vietnam was a surprising ruler this year with winning two titles.

Miss International did not host any edition in 2021 as well, keeping the safety the number one priority while Miss World witnessed unfortunate conditions and had to cancel the finale night due to contestants catching the covid-19 virus. The pageant night has now been postponed to next year. However, 2021 was all in all a successful comeback for pageantry.
