Teresa Ruglio was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2019 on 12th July 2019 at The Hilton Malta Conference Centre and she became the official representative of Malta in Miss Universe 2019. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Universe Malta 2018 Francesca Mifsud.
Ruglio was born in Caracas to an Italo-Venezuelan family originally from Caposele and holds dual Italian and Venezuelan citizenship. She along with her family left Venezuela and immigrated to Malta in 2016, due to the crisis in Venezuela and kidnapping and murder of her elder brother Bruno in Colombia. She made her debut in pageantry with this pageant and being a newbie, she performed with immense grace.
