Raissa Mandeng was elected as the new Miss Earth Cameroon 2021 to represent her country at Miss Earth 2021. She succeeded Miss Earth Cameroon 2020 Danielle Chegue Wabo for the title.
Raissa Mandeng was born in Maroua (Far North) and raised in Eséka (Center), Yaoundé (Center) and Bafoussam (West). She loves to travel and discover and give it back through her social, environmental, and cultural activities. She holds a master's degree in German Linguistics.
Her advocacy revolves around environmental education awareness. “When I started promoting environmental conservation and protection in my country, I wondered to discover that people didn’t have any idea about the environmental issues or the climate change. During our discussions I found out that they were really talking about it without knowing what it was about. They saw the rainy season being shorter and the dry season being longer, but they thought it was just happening naturally. I understood that some people are not aware of the environment because of their ignorance and this ignorance is fed by the lack of communication and information on different public, virtual and family platforms. This became a big deal for me as an environmentalist,” she shared.
