Miss Earth Kenya 2021 Stacey Chumba

Stacey Chumba was crowned as the new Miss Earth Kenya 2021 on 25th September 2021 at the Diamond Plaza, Parlnds, Nairobi. She succeeded Miss Earth Kenya 2020 Fridah Kariuki for the title.

21 years-old Stacey is a third- year law student at the University of Nairobi. Stacey studies Environmental Law and is passionate about environmental conservation. She is currently on a mission to save Lake Bogoria which is threatened by floods and risks merging with Lake Baringo.

Her advocacy is about ‘Bringing glory back to the valley’. “Due to climate change and land degradation most of the lakes of the Rift Valley have swollen up and flooded. This has not only displaced thousands of people but also caused the migration of many flamingos from the Rift valley. Lake Bogoria is a famous world heritage site for hundreds of bird species including flamingos. Due to this flooding Lake Bogoria has ceased to be an attraction site, meaning loss of revenue to the locals and the country in general. This is the same case for other lakes in the Rift valley like Lake Baringo, Turkana, Nakuru and Naivasha,” she shared.
