Oluchi Madubuike was crowned Miss World Nigeria 2021 on 18th September 2021 at the Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. She succeeded Miss World Nigeria 2019 Nyekachi Douglas for the title.
Oluchi Madubuike is a Nigerian-American nurse who currently resides in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Oluchi represented the Federal Capital Territory and bested 37 contestants to win the national crown. She studied at The University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, from where graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her thesis was titled ‘Facilitating the Integration of Nigerian Nurses into a U.S. Hospital Environment’.
Not new to the pageantry, she held the titles of Miss Africa Texas 2016, Miss Nigeria USA 2019 as she represented Abia but didn’t win. The 25-year-old left ADEX Medical Staffing and joined LeaderStat as an intensive care nurse in 2021 and has been working there since then. Her profession which requires her to be patient, kind and compassionate towards other humans and her charming personality makes her one of the strongest contestants at this year’s Miss World competition. She enjoys playing volleyball and tennis and her other interests include creative writing and Afrocentric Dance.
