Miss International 1973 was held on 13th October 1974 in Tokyo, Japan. The conclusion of the event saw the crowning of Brucene Smith from the USA as the new international queen. She was 23 years of age when she won the crown and defeated 44 other delegates from all over the world to claim the crown. Before trying her hand at Miss International 1974, she also participated in Miss World USA 1971 where she became the winner. Brucene then earned the right to represent her nation in Miss World 1971 and was placed in 6th position in the finale. During her time, she worked as a model and made appearances in many shows.
