India dominates at Miss World through the decade

India, one of the two dominating countries at Miss World, has produced stunning and accomplished beauty queens since decades who have made their own unique place in the world. The country has shown that the divas representing India are not just beautiful but also intelligent, following their purpose.

Through the last decade from 2011, the country won a placement every year except 2015. Starting with Kanishtha Dhankhar who was crowned Pantaloons Miss India 2011 and represented India at Miss World 2011 which was held on 6th November 2011 in London, United Kingdom. With her incredible performance, she placed in the Top 31. She is an Indian actress and supermodel.

Next year in 2012, Vanya Mishra was crowned Femina Miss India 2012 as she represented India in Miss World 2012 which was held in August 2012 in China. With her stunning performance, she placed in the Top 7 and also won the Miss Multimedia and Beauty with a Purpose title. It was quite an achievement for the country that year. Vanya is an actress, engineer and entrepreneur.

In 2013, while Philippines made history by winning its first Miss World crown under Megan Young’s delegation, India was represented by Navneet Kaur Dhillon Miss World India 2013. She was crowned Femina Miss India 2013 as she gained the official right to represent India in Miss World 2013 which was held on 28th September 2013 in Indonesia. Navneet placed in the Top 20 with her incredible performance and also won the coveted Multimedia award.

Next in 2014, Koyal Rana was crowned Femina Miss India 2014 in April 2014 as she gained the right to represent her country in Miss World 2014. The world finals were then held on 14th December 2014 in London, United Kingdom where she placed in the Top 11 with her incredible style and charm. Her achievements did not end just there as she also won the title of Continental Queen of Asia and was also Beauty With a Purpose winner, World Fashion Designer Dress Winner, Charity Gala winner, Beach Fashion - Top 5, Multimedia Award - Top 5, The People's Choice - Top 10, Top Model - Top 20 and Sports & Fitness - Top 32. Koyal Rana was indeed an inspiration for countless girls who looked up to her.

2015 was the only bump in the road for the country as their delegate Aditi Arya failed to place in the Top 20. Nonetheless, she was amongst the top 5 in Multimedia award, top 5 in People's choice award, top 10 in World Fashion Designer Dress award, top 25 in Beauty With a Purpose award, top 30 in the talent sub-competition and top 30 in the Top Model sub-competition.

 

Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar

 

In 2016, Priyadarshini Chatterjee represented India at Miss World 2016 which was held on 18th December 2016 in United States. At the end of the event finale, she placed in the Top 20 with her stellar performance. Next year in 2017, India won the jackpot under Miss India World 2017 Manushi Chhillar’s delegation as she brought the sixth Miss World crown home. A leading lady at Bollywood now, Manushi has shown her growth graph with her incredible performance. She has multiple achievements under her belt including winning the Beauty with a Purpose in 2017 as well. As the reigning queen, Manushi completed all her responsibilities with utmost grace and sincerity.

In 2018, Anukreethy Vas Miss World India 2018 represented her country in Miss World 2018 where she also garnered appreciation from all her supporters for her hard work and determination. At the end of the event finale held on 8th December 2018 in Sanya, China, Anukreethy placed in the Top 30.

 

Suman Rao Miss World Asia 2019

 

In 2019, Miss World 2019 was held on 14th December 2019 in London where Suman Rao represented her country with dedication and confidence. As the coronation night came to an end, she placed as the second runner-up at the competition and also won the title of Miss World Asia 2019. She performed with excellence and grace and proved how her country dominated the Miss World pageant because of these redefining beauties.

In 2020, Miss World pageant was not held because of Covid-19 pandemic. After the absence of two years, the 70th edition of Miss World was held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 16th March 2022. Manasa Varanasi, representative of India, gave a stellar performance at Miss World 2021 and placed in the Top 13.

In 2023, with a special announcement and much to the happiness of all the Indian fans, Miss World 2023, the 71st edition of Miss World, is scheduled to be held in India. India is hosting Miss World after more than two decades; the last time it hosted Miss World was in 1996. Sini Shetty Miss India World 2023 is preparing to represent the host country and welcome the delegates to her country this year.
