Laurie Simpson from Puerto Rico was crowned Miss International 1987 in Tokyo, Japan on 13th September, 1987. It was the 27th Miss International pageant and she was the first Puerto Rican to have won the esteemed title. At an early age of 18, Laurie was capable of making her nation extremely proud of her. Prior to this, this blonde, blue-eyed beauty participated in several beauty pageants like Miss Puerto Rico 1986 and Miss Universe 1987 where she was the finalist and 4th runner-up, respectively. Besides this victory, Laurie was also crownd Nuestra Belleza in 1991.
