Katie Wadman was crowned Miss Iowa USA 2021 at 8th May 2021 at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott, in Des Moines, Iowa. She is the first Asian Pacific Islander-Filipino to be crowned Miss Iowa USA. She was crowned by her predecessor Miss Iowa USA 2020 Morgan Kofoid at the end of the event finale.
The 21-year-old, Katie studies psychology, journalism, and mass communications at the University of Iowa. She is a news reporter and anchor on the television show The Daily Iowan. She also continues to elevate awareness of women’s accomplishments in sports by highlighting female athletes and coaches. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in journalism. Her goal is to cover the most significant events affecting the United States, providing accurate information to all Americans.
Katie uses her experiences to help young women achieve their academic and athletic goals through mentoring and coaching young dancers across the state of Iowa. She fuels her passion for advocacy on issues affecting women and children through working with victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
