Toni Ann Singh Miss World 2019

Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica was crowned Miss World 2019 on 14th December 2019 at the ExCeL London in London, United Kingdom. Toni is the fourth woman from Jamaica to win the title. Toni-Ann shifted to the US at the age of nine and settled in Florida. The 23-year-old graduated from the Florida State University in Tallahassee with a degree in women's studies and psychology. Toni-Ann aspires to be a doctor and has previously worked as president of the Caribbean student’s association. Toni-Ann spends her free time singing, cooking, vlogging, volunteering and singing. She’s all about women’s empowerment, “I think I represent something special, a generation of women that are pushing forward to change the world”, she believes.

Toni breezed through Miss World confident in her message of self-belief and purpose. Asked about the value of beauty contests in today’s world of MeToo# and the drive for equality and respect for women, she said beauty for her was the least important aspect of her achievement. “I want to make a change that’s sustainable. So, if we’re talking women, it needs to be something that will make sure that their children and their children’s children have a different value of life”, she has quoted. Describing herself as a ‘changed woman’ after the experience of taking part in the Miss World, Toni also believes there’s no way she could chalk it up to just being about beauty, because that’s the last on the list.
